1. Arriving at Nice-Côte-d'Azur airport

Unless you arrive with your private plane, in which case you would land directly at Cannes-Mandelieu Airport reserved for business aviation, your arrival airport will be Nice-Côte d'Azur airport. The airport of Nice-Côte d'Azur is, by its importance, the second in France. The Nice Côte d'Azur Airport welcomes direct flights from more than 100 airports.

Click to visit the page of the website of the airport with info about access

During the day, you can walk (10 minutes walk) from the terminal to the station of Nice-St-Augustin where TER regional trains stop. The information desk in the terminal will give you a map. Several trains (mainly in the afternoon) will drop you at the train station of Mandelieu La Napoule (with a change-over at Cannes station). Then you only have 150 meters to walk to get to the apartment.

The train ride from Nice-Saint-Augustin to Mandelieu La Napoule is approximately 40-60 minutes (depending on the change-over in Cannes). The ticket price is approx EUR 8 / person (valid 2019).

For timetables, download the TER application on your smartphone or visit the SNCF TER website for the region.

There are more trains from Nice St-Augustin to Cannes. Cannes Train Station is only 7.5 km from our apartment. From there the bus # 22 connects the train station of Cannes to Le Trayas (Theoule sur Mer) via the seafront and La Napoule. The stop PORT LA NAPOULE is 50 meters from our apartment. This stop is between the Residence du Port and the Plage de la Raguette. Bus # 22 operates every 50 minutes or so. Journey time 25 to 30 minutes between our apartment and the station of Cannes. Of course you can hire a taxi from Cannes train station to La Napoule (approx EUR 30).

2. Arriving by car

You can rent a car at the airport. Here's a good broker: Holiday Autoswith online booking. This is the car rental site that we use ourselves when we travel around the world.
Important: rent the smallest possible vehicle. We now have a private place in the underground car park of the residence. WARNING, to be able to park there, your car must be less than 1.67 m wide!
You will also find it much easier to park and it will be easier to drive on twisty roads and in the very narrow streets of the villages in the hinterland. The famous SMART car for 2 or a FIAT 500 is a good choice but there are many others. I have a list of such cars. At the car rental company make sure you do not accept an upgrade for a bigger car! The GPS option will be helpful. Not that much to reach our apartment which is very easy but to find your way on the Côte d'Azur if you are going to drive around.

The distance between the airport and our apartment is 35 kilometers, most of it on the motorway. From the airport take the motorway A8 direction Cannes. Bypass Cannes and take exit #40 MANDELIEU CENTRE and follow the signs Mandelieu-La-Napoule : PLAGES. As soon as you are on the sea shore avenue just follow the bay until you reach Port La Napoule marina (not Cannes-marina which is inland).

The French Riviera is one of the most famous and so busiest parts of the world in the Summer and you will not be alone on the road. So why waste time and nerves in traffic when it is not needed? Our personal recommendation dictated by experience is this: make the trip by train or plane and rent a car for the days you want to make trips to the backcountry.

The apartment that we offer in La Napoule enjoys a great location and is very easy to access. SNCF Mandelieu La Napoule Train Station is only 150 meters away on the back of the residence (and no noise because the track is buried). From this station you can reach all the coast of the French Riviera: Cannes (7 km), Antibes, Nice, Monaco, St Raphael, but also all the small stations in the nearby Esterel mountains to go for a walk during the day ... Connecting at Cannes or St Raphael, you get access to a wide range of TGV trains to the rest of the country. The car will be essential if you want to explore the hinterland. See our special page with ACCES card and other useful information.

All shops are within a 300 meters walk: supermarket, delicatessen, butcher, rotisserie, restaurants, newsagent, pharmacy, post office, florist ... Bakery and hairdresser at the corner of the residence. The shopping mall is only 1200 m away, reached by a pleasant walk along the river Riou and Golf Old Course. The casino is 500 meters from us along the seafront.

All luxury shopping you could want is in Cannes, 7 km away, easily accessible by train or bus.

But if you want to discover the villages of the hinterland, a car (with a GPS) will still be very useful. If you do not have your own car, it is easy to rent one. Here's a good broker: Holiday Autos, with online booking. This is the car rental site that we use ourselves when we travel around the world.
Important: rent the smallest possible vehicle. You will find it easier to park and it will be easier to drive on twisty roads and in the very narrow streets of the villages in the hinterland.

La Napoule is easily and quickly accessible from the A8 motorway (exit 40, Mandelieu-center). Just follow the signs PLAGES (beach) and the information we give you in your booking file.

3. What about parking in Mandelieu-la-Napoule?

We now have a private place in the underground car park of the residence. WARNING, to be able to park there, your car must be less than 1.67 m wide! If you have a wider car, there are many free spaces available along the avenue. In front of the residence parking is limited to 90 minutes during the day (blue zone). There is free parking near the station in the center of the village (250 m walk) and also a huge free parking opposite the casino (500 meters). There is (almost) always room. Finally, on the port, just in front of the residence, there is a paid parking. In Winter time you will almost always find some free space available in front of the residence.

4. To move around during your stay, from Mandelieu-la-Napoule, towards Cannes, Saint-Raphaël, Nice, the Lérins Islands, Saint-Tropez, Monaco ...

The location of our holiday apartment at the port of La Napoule is privileged. All shops are accessible within a radius of 300 meters on foot: supermarket, delicatessen, butcher, rotisserie, restaurants, newsagent, pharmacy, post office, florist ... Bakery and hairdresser are at the corner of the residence. The nearest hypermarket is only 1200m away, accessible by a pleasant walk along the Riou River and the Old Course golf course. The casino is 500 meters from the seafront.

All the shops you can dream of are in Cannes, just 7 km away, easily accessible by train or bus. If you do not have a car, do not panic!

The Palmbus # 22 bus line from Cannes to Trayas passes in front of our residence. Travel time from La Napoule port to Cannes, about 25/30 minutes by the seafront. See directions and schedule here.
There are even night buses (PalmNight) to return from Cannes to La Napoule late at night. Check the schedules of the night bus here (line number 20).

The apartment we offer at the port of La Napoule has an exceptional location and very easy access. The Mandelieu-La Napoule SNCF train station is located just 150 meters behind the residence (no noise because the track is buried). From this station you can reach all the coast of the French Riviera: Cannes (7 km), Antibes, Nice, Monaco, St-Raphaël, but also all the small stations of the Esterel massif to go for a walk during the day ... Thanks to excellent connections to Cannes or St-Raphaël, you will have access to a large choice of TGV trains to all the rest of the country. The car will only be needed if you want to explore the hinterland.
